Radar Handbook by Merrill I. Skolnik, X
The Standard Reference on Radar Technology--Completely Revised and Updated RADAR HANDBOOK Second Edition Thoroughly revised to reflect advances made in radar technology over the past two decades, this second edition of the Radar Handbook will be welcomed by radar engineers, designers, and technicians the world over. Growth in radar capability and applications has been-and continues to be--prodigious, and the new material (nearly 75 percent) in this volume reflects that. The handbook covers all the new developments in radar, as well as the fundamentals, making it the standard reference. Each of the 25 chapters is written by an expert or experts in the field; more than half of the authors are new to this edition. A sampling of the many new radar advances includes: Systems such as HF over-the-horizon radar for long-range detection, space-based radar for global coverage, doppler weather radar for improved weather forecasting, radar guidance of missiles, and 3D air surveillance radar. Technology such as solid-state transmitters, digital signal processing for implementing doppler filters for moving-target indiction, CFAR, and automatic detection and tracking. Target and clutter cross-section characteristics, prediction, and measurement. Antenna technology ranging from modern reflector antennas to electronically steered phased arrays, low-sidelobe antennas, and adaptive antennas. Airborne pulse doppler, AMTI, and MTI radar methods for the detection of aircraft in the midst of much larger clutter echoes. With all this and much, much more, including discussions of modern radar transmitters and receivers not available elsewhere, the Radar Handbook belongs on the bookshelf of every radar engineer.

Radar Principles by Peebles, Peyton Z., Jr.,
Radar Principles by Peebles, Peyton Z., Jr.,
A comprehensive introduction to radar principles This volume fills a need in industry and universities for a comprehensive introductory text on radar principles. Well-organized and pedagogically driven, this book focuses on basic and optimum methods of realizing radar operations, covers modern applications, and provides a detailed, sophisticated mathematical treatment. Author Peyton Z. Peebles, Jr., draws on an extensive review of existing radar literature to present a selection of the most fundamental topics. He clearly explains general principles, such as wave propagation and signal theory, before advancing to more complex topics involving aspects of measurement and tracking. The last chapter provides a self-contained treatment of digital signal processing, which can be explored independently. Ample teaching and self-study help is incorporated throughout, including: Numerous worked-out examples illustrating radar theory Many end-of-chapter problems Hundreds of illustrations, including system block diagrams, demonstrating how radar functions are achieved Appended review material and useful mathematical formulas An extensive bibliography and references. Radar Principles is destined to become the standard text on radar for graduate and senior-level courses in electrical engineering departments as well as industrial courses. It is also an excellent reference for engineers who are typically required to learn radar principles on the job, and for anyone working in radar-related industries as well as in aerospace and naval research.

3D radar - 3D radar provides for radar coverage on three dimensions unlike the more common 2D radar. While the normal 2D radar provides range and azimuth, the 3D radar provides altitude information with range and azimuth.

Space-Based Radar - Space-based radar refers to space-borne radar systems that may have any of a variety of purposes. A number of earth-observing radar satellites, such as RadarSat, have employed synthetic aperture radar (SAR) to obtain terrain and land-cover information about the earth.

Radar picket - A radar picket is a radar-equiped ship, aircraft, or vehicle used to increase the radar detection range around a force to protect it from surprise attack. Often several detached radar units encircle a force to provide increased cover in all directions.

Radar warning receiver - Typically fitted to military aircraft, radar warning receivers (RWR) detect the radio emissions of radar systems, whether ground-based or on-board other aircraft. The system is often capable of classifying the source of the radar by type (pulse-doppler or continuous wave, for example) and strength.

Advertising Innovators Jon Bond and Richard Kirshenbaum have come up with more outrageously clever ways to get past consumers’ detectors than anyone else in advertising today. They employed Ed Koch to bring Snapple to the American heartland. And, using in-depth critiques of many of today’ s " been there, done that" consumers. Under the Radar, Kirshenbaum and Bond chronicle their meteoric rise from a oneroom, two-man Lower East Side stringer operation to Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, one of today’ s best (and worst) ad campaigns, they describe what it takes to break through the defensive screens of a population bombarded by 1,500 ad messages each day.
